Internet advancement is the process that Scouting units use to record and track advancement ranks and awards for their youth. This process can be done from any Internet-connected computer at any time.

Sustainability merit badge was introduced at the 2013 National Jamboree in July, and is now an alternative to Environmental Science as an Eagle-Required Merit Badge.

As of January 1, 2014, Cooking will become a required Merit Badge, bringing the total number of Eagle-Required Merit Badges to 13.

To engage our youth members in STEM, the Boy Scouts of America has created exciting new program initiatives that emphasize STEM in the context of the current advancement programs.

During 2012 more than 3,000 Scouts throughout the USA received $100 grants for their Eagle Scout service projects through the generosity of the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation. The Boy Scouts of America has announced that the foundation has offered to continue its support with a similar number of grants in 2013.  The NEPA Council is pleased to announce that it will be participating in this program.
